Why?

What is your expertise with seat belts that makes you say this? Aren’t all seat belts “used” after a car is a week old? Aren’t your seat belts “used”? Why are those different?

Got my “new” used seatbelts in car. Annoying part could not get sensor, bumper or cracked headlight fixed.

Airbags work.

Seatbelts are tied to sensors and ABS computer. So can’t just use any old seatbelt. And they have multiple parts. Very annoying

OP I am installing a new sensor too. I would have to wait till April to get car fixed otherwise.

There is an explosion in seatbelts that locks then. My daughter thought airbag went off but was actually two front seatbelts

Just make sure the airbag light is no longer on after the seatbelts are installed. The light might indicate faulty pretensioners.

If it’s not frayed or worn, it wouldn’t trouble me.

This is NOT a do it yourself repair though. The pretensioners are explosive and need to be handled by someone with training. Otherwise you might blow your fingers off.

Would you put them in your 20 year old daughters car?

My daughter had a minor accident but it set off sensor and “locked” front seatbelts in the 12 year old car. The dealer and body shops do not have all the parts. On back order for months.

Car is useless no seatbelt’s. I found some in junkyard and a non insurance mechanic to put then in and replace sensor.

Is this a big thing? I paid for rental car coverage but that is only when car actually in shop not waiting for a part and with daughter under 21 no one will rent to her.

Kinda annoying. No one has the parts. Some places are even rebuilding seatbelts after accidents.

Wfh can wait six months for a new part
