If you just need a cooking wine and don't care much about the quality, you can keep a couple of mini bottles or one of those mini boxes around. I do that for the angel chicken recipe my daughter loves.

Bota Box is pretty good. If you're a huge wine person who only drinks the best, you won't love boxed wine but if you're more ok drinking decent grocery storage wine for day-to-day drinking, Bota is great.

It works great for cooking or if you just want a glass every now and then. It's much better than it used to be, and the packaging keeps the air out, which makes it last much longer than an bottle after you open it.

Someone posted in a wine thread that they drank boxed wine only now. We have a wine fridge but drink approximately 0.15 wine bottles a month. Last night I had to use apple cider vinegar in a recipe because I didn't want to open a bottle of wine for 1/2 cup.

I would probably have a glass of wine now and again if I didn't have to worry about wasting the whole bottle. I'd also want to use it for cooking.

Boxed wine, anyone?
