It has been sorted out since the change was announced and rollout details provided last year. You just don’t like the answer.

For the class of ´25, it is absolutely infuriating.

Not really, they set this requirement but the class won’t be available to take until this summer at the earliest. How is that good for juniors and seniors who already mapped out their classes for high school. Class was supposed to be available by now, yet it isn’t. And now kids needing to take rigorous classes are stuck rearranging their schedule to accommodate health B and another semester class.

Look at it as a GPA boost since it’s a honors class. Find a rigorous semester course.

There will be no online summer Health B. Local schools can offer it in person but will need to work w/ Central Office and MSDE to craft the curriculum. Further, it is recommended that class of 2025 be given priority in the class next year. But, any HS student is free to register for said course in the 2023/2024 school year.

Where did you get this information?

I'm not the above poster, but I've seen the same info on a MCCPTA group. The high school staff will need to condense the semester long content to an in-person format themselves for summer 23, but all high schools are not required to offer it this summer. Currently, my child in the class of 2026 is registered for Health B for the 23-24 school year, 2nd semester.

Ever, or just this summer?

Health A was such a waste of time for my three kids, all of whom took it during the summer and still sailed through with minimal work and their eyes half-closed. And complained that there was nothing new compared to what they'd already learned in years of health education in MCPS. I can't even imagine what Health B is supposed to cover, and making it take up a half-year slot in HS is ridiculous.

Yes, it's supposed to be offered at all high schools in 2023-24.

What is the situation with Health B? Is it being offered next year? I clicked Health on our course catalog and it was blank.
