Did anyone teach put to the school to find out why it’s not in person? What did they say?

Yeah that's crazy. people should push back.

Understand that teachers were given one date months ago and may have other commitments that preclude rescheduling for some time. In addition, school buildings are used by outside groups in the evenings and schools can’t bounce a booked group. Open House isn’t like shadowing. Prospective students don’t get a sense of the vibe of the building. They can look at pictures and video yo see what the building is like.

When my Dc toured ces it was absolutely during the day and was extremely helpful. I am sorry Mcps botched this but they need to fix it. That may require rearranging some things but it’s worth it in this case and very much in the children’s best interest.

The MS programs don’t do open house during the day.

I don't know what you're talking about. Touring the open houses was incredible useful for understanding and getting a feel for the schools when my son did them.

If they can't do an open house due to staff or building availability they should allow for small group tours during the school day.

+1 We're in this same situation. DC has a nice friend group she doesn't want to leave, so an in-person open house or tour during the day would be helpful.

Yes they do. My current magnet student got to tour the building and spend time with other accepted magnet students before the pandemic. It was very helpful in understanding the program and generating enthusiasm.

I hope these are in person as they have been traditionally, not on zoom - anyone know?
