See if you and DH can agree on a total amount of charitable giving, and then each of you can control half of that. That is what my wife and I did.

We agree on amount, but that's mainly because neither of us is fooling ourselves that our child's private school is the most urgent or deserving of causes.

Do you and your spouse agree on amount? DH wants to make a large donation. I believe many causes are far more urgent a deserving of those dollars.
