Subject: UMD College Park Acceptance Rates for MCPS Students

I believe the big jump for the Fall 2021 is largely due to UMD moving to common app.

Yes, 2022 appears to have been much more competitive. All scores are up -- SAT, GPA, # of AP credits -- while the admit rate was down.
Will be interested to see what 2023 fall numbers look like.
As an aside, I posted on the UMD EA thread that I'm hearing that more RMIB students didn't get into UMD, though I don't know what the majors were.

Are you basing that on past year Common Data set? 2022-2023 isn't out yet and there were more applicants for class of 2026. I'd also like to see the state dig into their admissions to see if they discriminate based on gender.

Here's some stats from Bethesda Magazine on acceptances for students from Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Walt Whitman, Walter Johnson, Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, Richard Montgomery, Thomas S. Wootton, and Montgomery Blair in Silver Spring.
For fall 2022, 2589 students from those 8 schools applied to UMD; 1495 (or 57.7%) were accepted, and 608 (or 40.7% of those accepted) ultimately enrolled. (https://bethesdamagazine.com/2022/09/13/here-are-the-colleges-where-bethesda-area-high-school-grads-applied-got-accepted-and-enrolled/)

As a public university for the state, UMD already sets aside space for a good number of in-state students. So I’m sure MCPS kids still get in at a healthy rate. Though I also wouldn’t be surprised if that number has dropped down from what it was in previous years.

UMD early action acceptance notifications have been going out. With all the talk of grade inflation, no finals, reassessments, etc, do we see any impact on how the students are doing when applying to University of Maryland? How about the limited enrollment majors such as computer science, engineering, and business? Any information would be appreciated.
