It's not weird, they are board shorts. Some children get irritated from the liners.

+1 to the Jammers. My 7 y/o twins wear them by themselves the majority of the time these days, including (recently) to the beach.

liners are pretty irritating unless they are smooth btw. i get my son the lands end that have basically semi-tight bike-shorts as the liner.

ok - they're going back to target. i looked back at the listing and they're described as "adaptive" swim trunks. I guess maybe the liner bothers some people so they specifically make it without

Yes weird. Practice “jammers” for swim team kids have no liners but those are like bike shorts - tight everywhere. If it’s loose fitting trunks, they usually have liners.

ordered cute matching target swimsuits for my 3 boys (1/4/5yos) but they are just shorts with no liner. i know our other swimsuits have liners (other than the baby's full body ones)...its weird to not have one right?
