As someone who isn't into purses, I find the fact that we use them to signal status really fascinating. Like what . . . it's something you put your keys, phone, and tissues in. Sure, a cute one is fun, but who cares who made it?
That's not to say that I don't understand. Status signalling is built into our bones; we want to make sure we get our proper respect and don't get booted out of the tribe. It's just funny to someone who doesn't "get" purses.
