This is terrible advice. Teachers + ParentVue are like doctors + appointment times. You are totally at their mercy. Of course, the difference is that the school (or APS) could require the teacher to update the grade book, but that will never happen.

If an assignment is listed as missing your child can go into canvas and show you if it was submitted- even if not graded it will say submitted and they can even open what was submitted.

It is very annoying that some teachers take forever to grade and enter grades so there have been times my kid literally doesn’t know if they have an A or a C. But teachers also have 150 students and it’s a lot to keep up with!

Yes, I just spotted some missing stuff tonight that had not been entered earlier. Obviously my kid was missing assignments, but they were not showing up until now. If it’s meant to be used to track assignments, those assignments need to be entered. That doesn’t absolve my kid of responsibility, but it’s annoying.

Parentvue is not always up to date. I check religiously for my ADHD DS and until this week there were only 2 assignments from November with minimal impact to grade showing up as missing. This week on Tuesday there were 8. Sometimes it is the student and sometimes it is the teacher.

Today is the last day of the quarter and semester. Parentvue shows that my junior DS has dozens of missing assignments. He says they are all handed in but not graded. I told him this isn't fair to the teachers to bunch everything up at the end for them to grade. At the same time, since COVID, teachers seem to have to accept late submissions. Obviously DS needs to be on top of this better, but this wasn't even an option years ago. Are there any teachers out there with suggestions at the personal or policy level?
