Subject: Any experience with Brightview Senior Living in Bethesda?
My Parent lives at the Rockville Brightview and is happy and comfortable there. The food varies in quality from good to mixed to bad but that's typical anywhere.

My mom just left BV in Fair Oaks. It is great for independent or minimal assistance elders. The facilities are lovely, lots of activities. The food is mediocre, however.
If you or your loved one is in need of more hands-on care, or has incontinence issues, then you will need to look elsewhere. Or you may need to get an additional hired person to do that. They do not have the staff to properly care for persons at that level.

It cost about 9 to 10k.
The Woodmont one has a family movie theater and they can pop you popcorn.
They have a cafe where you can help yourself to coffee, wine and pastries — included.
Happy hours
Two terraces, one with plants for those who like gardening
The food was okay but gave me a migraine — msg maybe.
You get up to five hours of services—like if your parent needs to run to cvs or wants to visit Jeni’s for ice cream.
Visitor parking is underneath the building in a tight garage.
They can give your parent a ride to your house if you live within a certain distance.
Some rooms have neat views of Bethesda. Some are HOT with how the sun comes in. 🥵
Another option:
Sunrise also has monthly payments—no need to buy in. This works for us.
Grosvenor was new when we looked so we didn’t get a sense of that one.

Brightview’s model is a larger monthly rent, rather than a large buy-in amount and smaller rent. I haven’t toured one but I’ve spoken to a person at one out of state and she was very helpful and made a video for me to show me their amenities. The independent living unit I saw looked lovely. Had a washer/dryer for personal laundry but they did the linens. I thought it was very nice, but we’re looking for something a bit smaller for my relative.

Happened to drive by today and thought that it looked nice. I’ve been casually looking at places in Va, but this would be about as far as driving out 66 for me. I’m sure it’s not cheap, but are the activates good? Staff nice and helpful?
