Maybe OP should sign up to be a sub instead of complaining about the fact there are no subs.

my daughter has told me that her K teacher sometimes goes to teach the other K class and their assistant takes over activities, and the art teacher also comes in to help. sometimes it takes a village when there are no subs.

I subbed for several years before the pandemic and the K assistant taking over was very common even back then. There has been a shortage of subs for a long time. Having 2 in a room during an absence is a luxury.

Agree. Same is true for EL and resource teachers. I know if I take those positions for subbing, there is a decent chance I will get pulled to work somewhere else.

At our ES, they usually don't get subs for Kindergarten. The TA just does it that day alone. If we have an extra sub they will send them in to help the TA, but usually we don't.

Every morning our admin are trying to figure out how to get coverage in classrooms where teachers are out. There are no subs so assistants, specialists, etc are regularly teaching classes.

This times 1000. You're lucky there is an assistant at all! Last week, they split up a kindergarten class in half and sent them to the other two kindergarten classes since there were no subs. This happens pretty frequently.

It really depends on the day/class. Sometimes we get subs other days we don't. I am a kindergarten assistant and I help out the other classes when I can. We usually cover all the material just fine. My class is pretty well behaved and we have ELL support at a few times during the day.

When your child's teacher is absent is there a substitute teacher. My child keeps telling me that there has been no substitute and the kindergarten assistant is teaching the class by herself. First of all this sounds very difficult for the assistant. Secondly, I can't imagine the kids are learning anything new.
