What is the Troll comment?

Are you not allowed to point this out anymore or is it pointed out too much? But why is it Troll like.

A couple of comments talked about the city not picking up emptying public trash cans? Can they be emptied twice a day instead of once?

What about the peeing situation? Does the city need to consider public self contained urinals. If people are peeing on bus stops, it kind of makes the buss stop less useful for everybody. Or is it troll'ish to point out something that WE ALL KNOW is happening.

As for the pot, well, I guess that is why you might call it troll like behavior. Anytime somebody talks about the pot smell in the city a VERY SMALL VOCAL group of people say "so what?" So let's eliminate that comment and pretend that it does not impact anybody. Can we at least recognize the first two comments or would that be bad for the city.

I’ve noticed a lot of the big rat trap boxes downtown. They seem to be helping in that I am not seeing as many rats. I don’t know if that’s a city initiative or just the individual businesses. For instance there is one in front of the CVS on K street, where I have previously seen a bunch of rats.

No. The OP is asking how the city can allow such a bad situation to occur in that area. It’s a fair question.

It’s a big city. It’s one corner. It’s slated for massive redevelopment. How’s that for an answer?

It's honestly not that big of a city. It's really not.

Why was it allowed to fester for years and why does it need to wait years to fix?

The police will not intervene for nuisance crimes and DPW does not remove trash in a timely fashion. There you are, OP - welcome back to DC.

There is a weed store right there.

And yes the rats are bad right now. I stayed in the area over the summer. I blame the overfilled trash cans.

I'm not op and have lived in DC for 15 years but I also noticed a decline since covid. I mean her/his post is kind of obnoxious, I agree, but not entirely untrue.

I went out to dinner last night with my family on 14th St as part of a restaurant week incentive. It was nice to get out mid week and to be honest, we don't venture around as much post COVID as we used to. Anyway, I parked near the Sunoco on U St and walked to the restaurant on 14th St.

What is the deal with the public urination, pot and rats in the area? In the one block walk we passed two people urinating at the bus stop or on the wall of the self storage building, the pot smoke was pervasive and we lost count of the number of rats just parading down the sidewalks and in planters. Is this what DC is now? I just don't see it worth hitting those restaurants again to in that environment.
