Yes looking into that option but I believe it’s capped at 100k in total for the contractor. I know of at least 3 other clients filing claims so chances of getting the full 30k are very slim

We signed a contract to do some addition work for our house. At the time, we thought the company seemed legit as they had many reviews and pictures from past projects on their website. Provided a significant initial downpayment and 5 months later the company is filing for bankruptcy. We've had no work done on our place.

If you are looking to hire a company for renovations/builds, please do yourself a favor and search the court records for any contract disputes with the company. Had we done this before, we would have seen the red flags with the financial health of the contractor and would have saved ourselves a lot of grief and money.
