Except his own campaign message was a failure. He’s a bullsh*tter that has mostly gotten away with it because he’s been able to do it with little to no scrutiny. But when people point out that he’s full of it, he turns into a thin skinned prick.
You’re not giving Hans enough credit. He maxed out public matching funds and got 20 percent of the vote even though:
1. He had no accomplishments to speak of during his 12 years on the council. Sure, he sponsored a lot of bills that passed, but then what happened? Nothing.
2. He waffled on so many key issues that he looked like a liar.
3. He handed out outrageous subsidies for millionaires who donated to his first campaign.
That all takes a lot of skill (especially no. 3 — he got a lot of progressives to embrace trickle down economics) and this site doesn’t give Hans enough credit.
