Don’t mind the haters on this thread, OP. Yes, it’s not a rational reaction, as you yourself acknowledge. But kudos for honesty, I suspect that’s a common feeling. You just have to accept the randomness of this kind of process and the fact that it really is a numbers game given more and more people fleeing to independent schools in the post-Covid era and limited capacity.

I’m the PP and my kids are adults now and have been rejected at all stages of their lives. I have no problems admitting this. Do you want specifics?

OP, I had to do some very hard work with my therapist because I have never failed at anything and it was holding me back. You need to start accepting failure and seeking it out.

This is about…. Last year’s application process? I agree the process can be very hard and rejection of your child is worse than personal rejection… but it’s time to move on. ESPECIALLY if you got into schools you were happy with. What’s the point of this post?

We got into Beauvoir and Sidwell and doing fine. But I am still irrationally angry! Maybe it is because I have never been rejected from anywhere before (college, grad school, job interview). It was my first rejection letter!! Better to get used to it before college apps come around I guess.
