I had a friend with a similar mindset when she went into finance. It was a brutal awakening for her, those men were just horrible individuals.

Most people don’t meet their partner at work. You can still go to happy hour or on dates working from home. You will probably have more success with apps anyway.

Ha ha. You're right, OP. Many people meet while working. My parents didn't work for the same company, but they were in the same building and met in the elevator!

That is a dumb reason to demand that other people work in the office if it's not necessary. Get a hobby or two, join some rec sports teams or volunteer somewhere. Most people I know, including my parents' generation, didn't meet their spouses at work. They met them in school, through friends, etc.

The time you save in commute can be used to explore hobbies, and there is where you meet people who may share more passions and interests with you than workmates.

Also, you don't have to deal with HR that way.
