Where do you live, California? It so inefficient to use municipal water for a personal garden like that.

Tomatoes will produce well even in a pot, as long as you have some sun.

How privileged that you own land. I live in an apartment with no direct sunlight and no outdoor space like a fire escape. I work with a guy who has fruit trees and pre-pandemic he used to bring in rhubarb and extra plums to give us.

There was a great sale on Kerrygold one week at Whole Foods like 4 years ago and I went to WF more than once, filled up one entire shelf door of my freezer with butter and have been using that ever since. I regret nothing.

Yes, you’re right. Many corporations are making massive profits, and have been for several months, although publicly they blame rising prices on “inflation” — which then may get treated as a political issue. If it were simply inflation, they would only be raising prices enough to keep their profits steady and or reasonable ( although I realize that working definitions of those things can vary by a lot.)

I have chickens and grow my own beef, tomatoes and lettuce.

The rising corn prices concern me, because feed prices for my farm have risen astronomically. So has fertilizer and hay. Beef prices going up is a no-brainer, they will likely double. I won’t see any of that…getting out of cattle. Only the big business feedlots prosper. Done with it.

I also expect shortages in chocolates, coffee, and some spices. But no reason to go crazy and hoard food.
