Downtown Bethesda - has Williams Sonoma and Sue la Table a little further. Lots of cute stores and places to eat.

True. When Borders was still there, Friendship Heights really was perfect for this. And it actually had TWO specialty kitchen shops — 3 when you count Rodman’s.

The Wharf area, which has a Politics and Prose outpost; Downtown Takoma Park — which has the House of Musical Traditions.
What kind of shopping do you want to do? Bethesda combines easy access and variety — and has a Williams -Sonoma.

Beautiful - if only there was parking …

??

There's plenty of parking. Street parking, garage parking, or you can Metro in. There's an abundance of options.

Rose n Pike in North Bethesda - relatively new walkable mixed use area. It has many good restaurants, stores, iPic cinema, Dog park and bowling. A book store would be nice though.

Downtown Bethesda or Tysons Corner mall. Or Pike and Rose in Rockville.

I have a few hours free one afternoon this week, and I think I’d really like to poke around some nice shops, maybe get a coffee and read my book for a bit, etc. I’m imagining an outdoor shopping area (like a grid of streets with shops) as opposed to a mall, but I’m open to a mall. I’d love it if there were a specialty kitchen shop and/or food shop involved, but I know I can’t be too picky. I’d love to metro/drive somewhere I don’t usually go, so the whole region and exurbs are potential options.

Does a nice shopping district exist anymore?

(Btw, if you say Tysons, can you give me a specific zone, a place to park, or something? I don’t know that area at all.)
