Following. I am new to macros. Please advise on good books or podcasts or sites.

Why 25g?

Dinner was good and filling. I had an orange afterward for something sweet. I did have a bowl of Raisin Bran but stayed under 25 g added sugar for the day. Woo-hoo on one day of meeting my goal.

How did everyone else do?

It helps me to make sure I eat enough protein and fat. If I do I don’t “need” the sugar. So have seconds on the sweet potatoes and salmon and that will help you stay away from added sugar!!

I was actually doing great this last week but after a stressful work week, I broke down and bought a big Coke and drank the whole thing. Slept terribly last night.

I’m going to try to get inspired by this thread.

The zero sugar formulas were a game changer for me. I just don’t like diet soda enough to choose it 100% of the time because it couldn’t compare to the experience of an ice cold regular Coke. Now I probably haven’t had a sugar soda in a whole year. The zero sugar ones taste almost like regular. Cherry Coke Zero is my favorite.

OP here--working on dinner for the family. Going to do a boneless chicken thigh recipe with sides of broccoli and rice. Not perfect, but easy and doable.

Anonymous wrote:Awesome OP! This is right on time for me: I have gestational prediabetes (?) and have cut out all added sugars. I used to be great about it but got a bit carried away in pregnancy with the cakes, ice cream, adding sugar to coffees.

We can do it!

Being pregnant is really hard. I am the original poster and 48. I am quite sure reducing sugar in pregnancy will be a terrific benefit to you and your little one.

When do you reach for the soda? How do you get them?

OP here. So glad to have some people to encourage and share successes and slip ups with.

Let’s everyone have a great day today. No time like the present. No use waiting until tomorrow.

PP, can you share how you did it? Did you just go cold turkey?

Thanks for starting this thread OP! Cutting back on sugar is a daily struggle for me (I am truly addicted). So it’s great to see others kicking the sugar habit!

OP here. This morning I had a good jog followed by my strength training routine. I had a brunch with roasted vegetables and an egg with a glass of milk. Followed by a handful of almonds. Going to try to have that hold me until dinner time. So far, so good.

I had a great run last year where I kept added sugar to under 25g a day except on Sundays and holidays. I felt great, slept great, was overall doing better than I had done in years. Since a work trip last October, I have completely fallen off and I want to get back there. I’m posting this for my accountability thread. I find focusing on added sugar and nothing else is my key to success. I also try to workout 5-6 days a week and limit snacking.

Join me! I would love some company.
