Wrong, my kids didn’t apply to schools with bad admissions experiences ever again. And Sidwell was lousy.

Every other school from St Albans to GDS, Madiera, and Potomac felt like they wanted to get to know my kid and family. You may say if we get in we'd take the spot like past posters said but they have moved from top choice and agree with original poster.

Your child is applying to St. Alban’s and Madeira? Okay.

Yeah, Sidwell dropped to the bottom of our list after the admissions process.

Why do you want them to do that? I thought you said this was for high school?

As an SFS parent, I have to say this interview by an alum must have started recently. Ridiculous idea, if you ask me (no one did), as it probably gives a whole "rush" feel to the process. Alums have no idea how to assess potential applicants and I doubt that they are well-trained on how to interview for this. I have heard from friends that the parent tours are pretty uninspiring as well.

I'm sorry it's leaving such a bad impression for so many. It really is a good school community!

I thought Sidwell admissions staff interviewed parent and student (this is for HS).

The process left a bad impression. Interview by alum, and no contact in person with any administrators. Just parent tours, a huge uninspiring meeting in the library, and a few online tests. Anyone else has in-person contact with admint? How would they ever assess if they don't meet in person with the applicant?
