She was huge in the New Adult genre about a decade ago. All of my 20-something friends were obsessed with Hopeless and Ugly Love. I could never get into them, and now whenever I see she’s the author, it’s an automatic pass.

I’m with you on the light reading. No shame in it!

I’ve only read Verity. It was a quick and entertaining read, but I hated the gender dynamics for reasons I don’t quite remember. It didn’t leave me wanting to read more.

I live under a rock too because I had never heard of her until sometime in the last six months. I haven't read any of her books yet, but I'm getting in the mood for something lighter after reading a lot of mysteries and psychological thrillers, so maybe I should give one a try.

No. Emotionally manipulative, too much trauma, and the writing is basic.

I think she's popular because her writing style is very accessible to people with average reading skills and expectations.

The domestic violence books surprised me. I had only heard that book was great, but I really did not enjoy it. I don't think I'll read any more of her books.

I LOVED Verity as I was reading it. But now that I've sat on it for a week, I have a little cringe that I can't put my finger on. I'm interested to read another though, and give her another try.

I used to but then I heard some criticism and gosh I was embarrassed that I liked them!!!! I just sort of breezed through it but yeah it's ALL so cringey and even though her intent is to help others understand the cycle of abuse, it does glorify an abusive relationship.

She comes out of a YA/Romance background -- supercharged emotional writing. Feel all the feels kind of writing.
