Most schools in wealthy districts have Principals that are competent and clamp down hard on issues such as bullying, but every now and then you do get a dud Principal. Hence the issues. My kids went to Bethesda ES and Chevy Chase ES, and there was zero tolerance for bullying. However, I've heard stories about the previous Principal of Somerset ES, for example...

hahahahaha

Right? Hilarious.

PP, it’s funny (not really) because people with privilege are often some of the worst bullies. It persists in those circles because people are hyper aware of power differentials, real or perceived. Thinking that nothing bad happens at “good” schools is painfully naive.

It should be on the ES website but I just looked at the Wyngate website and didn't see it.

+1

I was going to suggest this as well.

This is a private form between the bullied child and the bully. So it’s not public information unless you tell other people that you’re filling out this form.

What are some reasonable expectations that a parent should request during a discussion with admin?

You need to group together as parents, demand the principal holds a town hall meeting and voice your concerns and your expectations for remedy moving forward. And get it all written down and agreed to. It''s the only way of putting pressure on the Principal in a way to get them to pull their thumb out of their ass

All I heard about Wyngate is that there's a tense between principal and PTA. Sounds awkward that a principal is against PTA...

Wyngate has a long history of bully problems. Hop over to DeChantal and you will hear lots of stories from parents that were forced out for the basic safety of their kids.

The behavior problems seem to be escalating and the Principal seems incredibly nonchalant and patronizing towards the parents. My child was emotionally and physically bullied in 2022, but I’m hearing nightmare stories from former classmate’s parents of this year.

Any other parents here from Wyngate who can relate?
