I got a second piercing at 13, a third in college. Never had a second thought about either one (and I still wear earrings in the second and third piercings in my late 40s).

A friend’s mom wouldn’t let her get a cartilage piercing in HS because she thought it was “trashy.” More than 30 years later and now a parent of teenagers, I still don’t understand this mindset. It couldn’t be less of an issue.

Mine started to want her second piercing when she was 12 so we got it for her as a 13th birthday present.

My 13 year old just got her second piercing. It’s her ears and body. She has tiny diamonds in the second hole and I think it looks nice.

She can take them out if she doesn’t like it.

I don’t think there is anything to regret. I am in my mid 40s and have only worn one earring in each ear for more than 20 years but I have 4 holes in one ear and three in the other. It’s a non issue - I just don’t put earrings in there.

Mine got a second in 6th grade. A third in 8th. And recently had a cartilage piercing. It's fine.

And if people judge her or me they can Eff all the way off.

I got a second piercing as an teen and thirty years later the hole is still there. I hate it but it’s better than having a tattoo I regret I suppose.

What appropriate body piercing is below the neck besides bellybutton? Certainly these people aren’t getting their daughters nipples or genitals pierced as a compromise to an ear piercing, right?

We let DD get second piercings when she got into her first college. Then we let her get her belly button pierced as her HS graduation present.

Many of DD’s teen friends are finding a good compromise with body piercings (think: below the neck). These are great because they are almost always hidden by clothing, and if left to heal over, no one will notice they were ever there.

My 13yo son is asking for them.

What’s there to regret? She can just take it out if she doesn’t want it.

Parent how you want but it’s not the hill to die on for me.

Regret it when she's older?

All she'll have to do is take them out.

To be honest, its going to be tough to rationalize how you allowed the first piercing but not the second.

My almost 15 yo wants the same. It’s very popular right now. I hate the idea. But she’s a good kid, does chores, manages homework and top grades on her own, has nice friends, is (mostly) respectful to us and still loves spending time with us. So I’m inclined to let her but we haven’t done it yet.

I didn't think second ear piercings were that big of a deal.

Septums and tongues on the other hand...
