Did you take a Before pic? Do it now if not. That can really help show changes even when we can’t see or feel them.

OP here. My latest kick is just since New Year's. Only a couple of weeks.

But I have been trying at various levels of intensity to move my baby/pandemic weight for about a year.

Before pic is a good idea!

But if you’ve already lost a few pounds, then that’s great. 1-2 pounds per weeks is the most you should lose anyway. And if you weren’t consistent in the last year, results will have been spotty at best. I’ve been at it extremely consistently for 8 months and I’ve lost about 6 lbs a month on average. And that’s counting every calorie I put in my mouth, upping my exercise continuously as it gets harder and harder to budge the pounds the more I’ve lost, drinking a ton of water, hanging out calorie laden foods for more filling less calorie dense foods, basically an overhaul of my life. It’s not eacsy.

Whats the best? Eggs, avocado, nuts? What else?

Yes you still have to be mindful of what you eat but it will make a big difference in shape even if weight stays the same. Focus on fat, fiber, protein when you eat. You need as nutrient dense foods as possible if you are going to restrict calories. Also, in the long run muscle mass burns more calories than fat so this will also up your metabolism so you can eat more. I personally do not believe in the sustainability of restrictive diets. You have to change body composition and ensure foods are nutrient dense.

Can you give examples?

As hard as it seems, I would try to focus on other accomplishments besides actual lbs dropping off. Can you lift something heavy you couldn't lift before? Can you go harder/longer cardiovascularly so your endurance is showing improvement? Have you curbed any big craving food-wise?

And then break those goals into even smaller goals. Like, did I go two days in a row without giving into my sweet tooth? Or, did I push 5 minutes harder on the treadmill than I wanted to, etc..... GOOD LUCK.

To me, these would be incredible goals and accomplishments besides just the obvious one of wanting to see pounds drop off and clothing fit differently.

I've lost a few pounds according to the scale but I don't really see a change in my body or how my clothes fit. When I look in the mirror I see a pudgy person and it feels like a mean joke that I look this way even though I'm eating so healthy.

I know I need to stick with it long-term to get results. Just a vent as I'm really struggling to stay motivated this week

I lost 25lbs before I saw a change in my clothes and 40lbs before I saw a change in my body. I was doing 3x/strength + 3x/OTF. Even after 40lbs, my clothes still fit—not great and they are baggy but not falling off of me either. Everyone is different and you just have to give it time. I realize that that doesn’t help you feel better now but just try and be patient.

I feel your pain!

I just keep telling myself, "well, think how much weight you'd be gaining if you ate all you wanted to eat!"

I'm there with you. I started strength training consistently since June, but visibly still look somewhat the same. I know there's some improvement, because heavier weights are easier for me now. I've also gained weight, but my clothes still fit.

I stay motivated, because it's one of the few areas of my life where I absolutely have control. Good luck!

It look me a LONG time to start seeing results. Keep it up / it’s worth it.

Same. I've been at it since November. I'm hungry most of the time and think I should've lost more weight by now given how much I've given up.

My guess is that while you feel like you're living like a skinny person you are consuming more calories than you think. A healthy salad can easily be 1200 calories sometimes depending on what you put in it. It's not terrible for you (like a McDonalds lunch would be) but it's still loaded with calories. You have to watch your portions with healthy stuff too.

Yes, me. I’ve been restricting to 1500 cals, 3x/week weightlifting, 3-4x/week cardio. 0.3 pounds lost over two weeks.
