I'd get the scrape repainted so rust does not develop on the exposed metal.

??? Not at all. It's purely a cost/benefit consideration. You seem to be overly invested in your family's appearance. Sad.

Wow. We either have a troll or a delusional person here. Go ahead and waste your money on keeping up with the Jones's.

Where do you live, OP? I had a similar scrape fixed up at one of the auto body shops in downtown Silver Spring (can't recall the name, but there are a few).

A few years ago, my DS scraped the side of his car on my garage. I was unwilling to go thru insurance for a variety of reasons. I visited some smaller auto body places, explained that it was a teenager’s car and I wasn’t looking for perfection on the repair. Once I received a price, I offered cash to sweeten the deal. Can’t help with a place because I don’t live in your area.

Ours is a 15 year old Toyota with a long scrape from the front fender all the way to the rear fender. I didn't fix it mostly because I'm cheap and don't feel like spending a couple hundred dollars. Apparently, neither does my teen who works and is the primary driver.

A lot of people could spend $500 and not cause a ripple in their finances a month later. Is that you? Just fix it.

The first thing a labord does is look at the condition of the tenants car to determine how they will treat the rental

If you can do it for a decent amount, I'd say fix it.

I say this as someone who stopped fixing the dents and dings in my Honda Civic around the same time. I lived in Logan Circle and used street parking and that car got abused. But over time, it really added up to make it look like crap! We drove it until it was 19 years old, and it still ran great, but we needed something bigger because we had 2 kids.

Anyhow, if it's not super expensive, and you can afford it, I'd fix the dents before your daughter starts driving it.

Someone did this to my similarly-aged car years ago, and instead of fixing it, my husband put some anti-rust on it and called it a day.

Don't fix it. Waste of time and money. Take several pictures to prove this one done previously bu you against a wall, not another car.

We have a 12 year old Honda that we plan to give to DD to drive.

In a parking garage we scrapped the passenger side door pretty bad — exposed metal and long dents.

Who could fix this cheaply, it’s a beater car at this point. But want to avoid those dudes patrolling car lots for dents, something a bit more reputable?
