I had the most entitled friend in my early 20s who was such a snob I can't even appropriately describe it. We lived in Shaw in about 2011 and when she and her boyfriend came to a party they made the most dramatic entrance about how they "had to walk through a war zone" to get to our place and how we lived "on the frontier." It was incredibly embarrassing for me, but more so for them, which I am positive they have no idea was the case.

I suppose it's easy to ensconce yourself in an elite good neighborhood-pay to avoid inconvenience-have your kids attend private schools-take luxury vacations with private chefs and post on social media about it lifestyle if you're in the tax bracket to do that, but it's also possible to be resourced (which I am assuming you are) and not be a total ignorant buffoon about it. And if I am reading this wrong and your child isn't super resourced, they, umm, need to get used to living in places like this in their 20s if they want to be in a city. Good on them for being able to afford the nice building.

My adult DC is considering moving to a neighborhood (in another city) that is supposedly gentrifying but is still very dangerous. It has luxury apartment complexes going up nonetheless. How do you tell them not to?
