This isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, but I enjoyed Tangled Up in Blue, by Rosa Brooks. She’s a law professor who went through DC police training and wrote about the experience.

This is a good point. I forgot where I was for a second. I wanted non politicians. I'm thinking Marvin Gaye, Nannie Helen Burrows, Joe Gibbs, Connie Chung. Obviously I'm asking the question because my list isn't too long but how many of their m these people have bios or autobiographies that are good?

They are a shelves and shelves of bad DC political memoirs.

People will jump on here to recommend ones that I am sure they didn't read because the like the person who's name and photo is on the front (even though that person most definitely did not write it).

It's been 25 years since I read it, but I remember the Stephanopoulos being significantly better than most. Same with Katherine Graham's.

Almost too obvious to suggest, but Master of the Senate is such a great portion of an amazing body of work.
