You need to allow your phone to use gps instead of steps then your runs should match nearly perfectly.

My iPhone 10 wildly overestimates my running distance--today my route was around 5.5 miles and it said I ran 7.4. I wish I had run 7.4 miles in 50 minutes ! But alas, I did not.

I figured this was a stride length thing. But it also UNDERestimates my walking distance. My husband and I went on what should have been (according to the map and two running watches) a 3.1 mile loop. My phone said I walked 2.3 miles. When I calculated the distance based on my step count, it was accurate. So again, I think it's a stride length thing, but I'm still surprised that the phone would overestimate running while simultaneously underestimate walking.

Any reason why this might be? I typically run with a running watch so it doesn't matter, but I've always been curious. It's been this way for several years at least.
