I don't see anyone here defending the assaulters. But someone asked a valid question about which information they wanted to be communicated about an assault. In this case, if I were the teacher, I may or may not have wanted a community-wide message to be sent out. It is mainly a matter for the teacher, the student, the administration, and possibly the police.

I agree with this. It's one thing when a small child acts out. Quite another when it is a high school student. It's actual assault, and the teacher could press charges.

agree, but I think much like school shootings, people have become desensitized to violence in our schools. And maybe it's because a "child" hit an adult.

Well, some teens are bigger than adults, particularly women.

I'm like 5' on a good day. 99.9% of HS students are bigger than I am. If one assaulted me, it would be hard to defend myself.

I recall when I was in HS I had a really petite Asian female math teacher. Great teacher, and she was super tiny, smaller than me. She would've been an easy target for students.

I'm sure defenders of the assaulters will say how hard the pandemic was, give them a break, yadda yadda yadda. Always excuses.

Unfortunately true. We had a teacher assaulted at our ES!

No report sent home to parents. This is just an everyday occurrence in MCPS at this point.

This happens to teachers do frequently that I’m surprised you think it warrants communication.

That's so normal it's not worth notifying parents at our MS.

MCPS is absolute garbage when it comes to sharing news in real-time. They still centralize and sanitize communications into meaningless mumbo jumbo on official lettterhead in old-school PDFs. They operate as if social media, the internet and cell phones don't exist. It's mind boggling.

My kid goes to Magruder. They came home talking about how a female teacher was assaulted today. The teacher tried to stop a girl from leaving the classroom and the girl started hitting her. Police were called.

We parents haven't received any notification from the school about this. Maybe they are trying to protect the teacher's privacy, which I respect. But a clear statement from the school would be helpful, when they know full well students will blab it all over the place, and likely lose some accuracy in the process.

I am so tired of not hearing from the school on stuff like this. Like they are trying to cover it all up.
