I was very apologetic when I had to remind my kid's teacher twice about the forms since I knew she had a heavy work load. She said "no worries, thank you for reminding me, this is actually an important part of my job and I should have done it earlier."

That’s great, keep the teacher and school out of it. Did they request you take the test or drop major hints to do so?

Surprised the Dx came through without the school input but whatever, maybe they saw something during the test that was consistent. That plus your surveys and any family history and that’s all that’s needed.

It was telling when our daughters classroom teacher refused to fill out the form. This teacher had been adamant there was no issue with her reading and then refused to fill out the forms when we got private testing.

She was 100% wrong and I raised this to the principal. But the doctor doing the testing said it was better to have no information over lies.

Sometimes the teacher forms are useless. My kid functioned really well in school but fell apart at home.
All of a sudden my child fell apart at school but the teacher didn't really understand why even though I had told her I suspected ADHD and this was her second year with him and my second year asking her if she noticed anything. This was private school - I've found MCPS to me much better in general but I'd just move on.

You know your child and I assume testing will also reveal the issues. Teachers aren't always very in tune with the exact behavior issues. If the teacher is not responding - they are not a valuable resource for you overall and especially not in this regard.

MCPS teachers are extremely overworked and demotivated right now. There is a thread on MCPS section of DCUM on it and on Reddit too. There are large numbers of unfilled vacancies and existing teachers are required to cover. It was very eye opening to read it. I think there will be a major exodus from schools this year and something gotta give, the system is rotten to the core.

Our teacher forms reflected this too, but the process resulted in the diagnoses we expected (and which the teachers did not expect). The forms' scoring systems see to control for this.

Usually we need to send those forms to the office before they get to the parent, so maybe that’s the problem. They could be hung up in the office.

Yeah, multiple emails sent from CAAT and myself. The deadline they gave her was December 1. She did say she would do it so she knows of the existence of the request. CAAT didn’t suggest I approach in person. She isn’t a flake so I don’t know what’s going on. I asked an alternate teacher who did get back to me so it will probably all work out but I’m curious how bad it would be if we never got a teacher response.

Was the teacher given a deadline? Did CAAT suggest you approach a different teacher? I would try to get the forms filled out because you'll want this evaluation to be as comprehensive as possible to provide a baseline for comparison in case something changes with your child in high school.
