He knows multiplication somewhere from youtube, so probably he knows a bit division if he understand the relationship between them. I still have not done math enrichment to him because soneone told me not to do so, and that could be why he was freaked out with questions that he does not know. He told me that he got 220 something like that from the screen.

MAP testing has no set time limit. Or none beyond the patience of the school.

First graders perception of time isn’t the best. He spent some time on it because he wanted to get it right. Maybe he did maybe he didn’t. Obviously he doesn’t know or understand the concept. Finished the test. No problems to see here.

*Everyone* gets questions they can't answer on MAP, *because it is adaptive*.

Getting questions *not taught in class* means you are getting ahead of your class's level.

No, 1st graders don't learn division in Eureka. Both MAP and prodigy are adaptive, so your child may have been exposed through them. I always remind my daughter that getting questions you can't answer on MAP is a good sign that you are doing well.

To answer your question, students in 3rd grade learn the meaning of Division and basic division facts. In fourth grade students learn “long division” but it’s a whole new method using an area model. Eureka math can be found online if you search engage NY.

MAP testing is adaptive, which means that it adjusts in difficulty based on how many questions your child answered correctly. I don't remember when division and the division symbol were specifically taught to my kids, but it was older than 1st grade. My guess is your kid kept getting more difficult questions and to the point where the questions were above the instruction he has received thus far.

My first grader kid got freaked out about today’s MAP math assessment test, and he told me there are something that he does not understand since the fall. He shows me the symbol, and I realize he is talking about the division. He insists that teacher has been teaching that since September in the class, and I don’t believe it. Really? I know that he plays prodigy math game or what app in the classroom sometimes & he is ahead on math. I wonder if he is confused on math curriculum or what he plays on math app game at class ( it adjusts to your level or teaches something harder).

I am still confused the details step by step of eureka math method on addition & subtraction. Is there any sample link on euraka math on multiplication/division? Thanks.
