In our basement, we had to rip out all the carpeting AND drywall b/c water had seeped into the bottom couple of inches of drywall.
Now DH knows I will kill him if he ever fails to change the filter on time again.
Why didn't you change the filter youself???

You push the reset button after you change the filter so it can start counting the time to the next change.

I thiink some fridges have "green" which means it's fine "yellow" which means change soon and "red" which means replace. I'm not sure if that's the case with yours but if it's yellow the water will still taste ok for another few days but will begin to taste funny shortly.
Definitely replace. Unfiltered water tastes nasty and isn't good for your fridge.

Our GE informs us about every 9 months to change the filter. We do it. I would not hold off on that.

I change every 6 months OR when the indicator light comes on (but who knows how accurate that is, because I swear I accidently hit the button the other day and reset it).
As for where to buy, I look up the model number of the refrigerator online and usually purchase from Amazon. We have a Kenmore fridge, it was in the house when we moved in earlier this year, and I think it took a Whirlpool replacement filter because Whirlpool probably manufacturers this particular Kenmore fridge.

When the light comes on. Often, before the light comes on, because the stream gets slow, and it takes over 30 seconds to fill a glass of water. That time seems to drag forever.

I have the exact same question. My fridge came with my apartment and I'm in the dark about who lived here before I did. I think I know how to replace it, I just don't know where to buy the right kind of filters? My bf suggested that I buy them online to save the hassle. Has anyone bought a Refrigerator Filter from this outlet? Let me know. I just don't like buying online without a review. Thanks a lot!

We have a GE Profile fridge and the water filter light came on. The water tastes fine. Do you replace it when the indicator comes on or do you have your own timeline?
