+1. For the Crosstrek. Bought one of these last year, and I like how it sits higher on the road than a sedan. I drive a minivan, so am used to sitting higher up.

I have a friend in her late 60's who drives from Florida to New York several times a year. She likes the Kia Soul. She said it rides high and is comfortable for long drives, but is economical on gas and versatile. She trades her Kia Soul in for a new one about every 5 years.

I have another friend in her 30's who has a bad back and she also drives a Kia soul.

I am unexpectedly in the market for a new car about 5 years before I thought I would be. I've consistently wanted my next car to be physically higher up than my Volvo sedan was (the CR-V is my very out-of-budget dream car). Do any of you know if there any sedans or hatchbacks that do this, or should I be exclusively looking at crossovers/small SUVS? I'm trying to do online research before I test drive things, but I'm not even sure what keywords to be looking for to get this information (so if you know the lingo but not the details and could help me target my searching, that would also be helpful!).
