DS’s bedtime during the week is at 7:30 and he’s asleep by 8. On the weekends, he stays up later since he doesn’t need to wake up early for school. Last night, he went to bed around 9/9:30 and still woke up at 6am. I may have to resign myself to his earlier wake times but now he’s ready for a nap when that’s usually 12 for him. Just made him an early lunch and he’ll be asleep by 11 I’m sure.
kids this age don’t just go to bed later and sleep later. Set him up for success by keeping bedtime the same time every night.

+1 Don’t vary weekday/weekend bedtimes unless the kid is napping at daycare but not at home (that’s how it goes for my 3yo; her weekend bedtimes are really early and wake-up time is consistently 6-7 every day of the week).

My 8 and 11 yo still wake up at 6 am almost every day. It's very convenient on school days, and a pain in the ass on weekends.

Yeah, 9am is fantastic--but she can expect better than 6am I think. My 3yo sleeps until 7 on weekdays

What time is bedtime and nap time? 6-7 feels normal to me for wake up especially if they get up for daycare.

Try the OK to wake Hatch light. Turns red for "stay in bed" and green for "ok to wake." (He is too young to comprehend a clock, IMO.)

My almost 3 year old son used to sleep in all the time. He’s never wake up early and would guarantee a 9am wake up on weekends. Recently, that’s changed and now he’s up around 6am He has been getting up earlier for daycare recently but not drastically different. Anyone have any experience with this?? Will he ever go back to being a late sleeper or am I doomed to never sleeping in again?
