Oh his teacher already knows that the kids know the word.

I just tell my kids we never say those words to adults. Ever. If they use it with their friends, well ok. Mine both know every bad word and also know not to use them.

Yes this. We taught our kid all these words by 4 so that she knew the meaning and proper usage. Highly recommend. Would do it again.

Exactly! Teaching them makes it less a novelty and lets you establish the context. I taught my kids that kids will try to shock them and feel powerful knowing these taboo words. I taught my kids what to expect so they weren’t confused and could just roll their eyes like it was no big deal, which it is (no bid deal that is).

My son keeps asking me why is it a bad word, what does it mean? I genuinely don’t know how to respond.

No.

Just tell him it is not a nice word and for adults only and even then not nice.

It is part of the idiomatic expression F Trump. My kids saw ut all over town and used it correctly.

My 1st grader just told it to me… she said daddy said it. I am not pleased.

Mine learned it in first grade…from her older brother.

She used it in class, and this tale is now part of our family history. šŸ˜‚

ā€œYour teacher said you used inappropriate language. I’m about to call her to find out more. What did you say?ā€
(Sobbing) ā€œIt rhymes with buhhhck.ā€

She’s now a junior in hs and probably applying to an Ivy. Older brother is in college and doing great.

20:23 again. I always explained to my son the literal meaning and the meaning how kids were using it. He was usually horrified enough by the literal meaning to not say it again when he was little.

Agreed, don’t make a big deal out of it and no need to bring it up to the teacher. You can explain that some words are nice to use. Relate it to potty humor if he remembers that but say it’s ruder and offensive to people.

My son came home excited in 1st to tell me he learned all of the words from the big kids in aftercare. My nephew went though similar and often would ask all of the relatives if we knew all of them because he could teach us. They are both teens now and behave appropriately. The thrill wears off.

Yeah just don’t make a big deal out of it. My friends son learned pu$$^ from overhearing a coach talk about another kid. Hard to handle when it’s an adult ā€œin leadership roleā€ using it. šŸ˜ž

Congratulations!
Just explain that it’s not a nice word and move on. He is going to learn worse things at school for sure.

Mine learned in 2nd too, I think. I said it's a word some people use to express a strong emotion but it's very rude and our family doesn't say it. The same classmate had taught everybody sh!t at the same time so it was actually easier to package them in one discussion.
