This article is rambling nonsense: "Nearly 25% of parents whose children received virtual instruction or combined instruction reported worsened mental or emotional health in their children, compared to 16% of parents whose children received in-person instruction."

Perhaps the difference is parents were more involved with their kids daily lives to actually see what was going on. Or, perhaps the school was not the issue vs. the family situation.

You posting a random article from 2021 has nothing to do with the MVA today. You have no idea what is going on in the MVA and how they are teaching/educating students. For some kids, it's far better for their mental health. Many kids are thriving in the MVA.

It's all direct teaching, the same school day as a regular school schedule. Class sizes are the same as in person. They have peer interaction and have online clubs during lunch and after school. It is an all day schedule. You can look at the schedule and information on the MCPS school website.

Seems that every year there are people here that seem to think - gleefully! - that the VA is being shut down imminently.

Thank you but no thanks. DC is doing so much better now in person. Overall better grades, new friendships with peers and better mental health. Not going back virtually, especially now with COVID vaccines and medications widely available

The Montgomery Virtual Academy (MVA) application for the 2023–2024 school year is now open through Feb. 2. The MVA is a full-time virtual learning program for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. The focus is to foster a safe, inclusive online learning environment that meets the individual needs of students in an academic setting where staff know their interests, and want to see them excel.
