I'd tell them, and ask them what they think is a solution. I think one of my kids would say it's fine, I don't mind sharing, and the other would want me to pay him back with $. That's just a guess though.

Film their reaction and send it to Kimmel

It depends on the kid. My husband ate some of my sons candy and he (son) started eating more candy when he first got it, because he feared someone else would eat it.

If your kids will not notice, then it’s fine. If they do, admit you were wrong and suggest a replacement,

After this, you need to find a place in the house that is where they put their candy that you do not eat. Just consider it not an option to eat it (make it somewhere you cannot see it).

Eating a piece is fine; eating a whole bag that was a gift is not. Was this like a small 3 piece hershey kiss mini bag, or a whole bag of swedish fish?

I generally tell my kids that I ate it and then ask them if they want me to replace it or if they want something else small instead. I let them decide if they want it, something else or nothing. Since my kids rarely want for much, I often get a "Ok, no problem." and we're done. Sometimes they do want a replacement of same or something different (like one kid will sometimes ask for Skittles to replace, the other might ask for gummy worms or something like that).

My kids wouldn’t even notice after the first day so probably depends on the kid!

Don't replace. Kids probably won't even care. Even my kids are sick of sweet after overloading in December.

This is sad. Replace it and get a hold of yourself!

OP: oh that's good- I don't like Oreos either.

Do they know about the chocolate? If so, than yes. Knowing that it is for my kids would stop me from eating it.
