Subject: Discrimination by boyscout Troop
The thing about boys scouts troops is that they are run by the parents. I totally believe that the leaders lied to you because they did not want to accommodate the boys' disabilities. You can complain to BSA but don't expect any significant action. I'm sorry this happened to you. My own boys dropped out because the leaders were not handling a bullying issue. Honestly, it was a relief.

It sounds like your kids Pack was involved as well. All the other kids from the Den landed in the same place except two.
I would look for another Troop. Clearly this one would have been a bad fit. There are a lot of Troops in the area, many are extremely welcoming.
The Troop lists its Council on the web page, I would complain to them. I have no clue about Troops trying to maintain specific sizes, that sounds weird. None of the Troops we visited told people to not apply due to space. None of this sounds right.
I would look for another Troop. Clearly this one would have been a bad fit. There are a lot of Troops in the area, many are extremely welcoming.

No we applied to one of the other troops that had "room" for us. I have no interest in participating with a group like that so I'd only be going to Council to have them reviewed rather than get anything out of it.

You could probably report this to the local Council because it goes against what Scouting is supposed to be.
There is info missing but naming the Troop pretty much outs your post to anyone who knows that Troop.
They didn't reject an application because they told us not to bother applying. Yes it was obviously intentional and cruel the way this was done. I'm ok with outing the troop. I find their behavior unbecoming. I'd consider going to Council on it, but like I said, no proof other than the back handed way it was done.

Yes and they told us not to apply - there wasn't enough room for us. Except there was for everyone else.

Cubscouts. They announce the boy scout troops at graduation. Where every single member of their Den when to the troop with "no space" except the two boys with disabilities.

WWYD? Short version of a long story out of an entire Den of Cubscout boys 2 were told not to apply to the boyscout troop 349 in Falls Church because there was no room.
They also happen to be the only boys with disabilities (one learning, one medical). We didn't find out until they graduated that every single other boy had been let in except the two with disabilities. It certainly feels like it was deliberate. It was also extremely painful for the boys to loose their friends and feel alone.
Obviously they can claim whatever they want as to why they discouraged us to apply. I think they are dirty AF. No idea why adults can be that cruel.
