Don't just hang out on machines browsing on your phone.

Don't go with a friend and decide to monopolize 2-3 machines at once.

If you don’t need to grunt, you’re not lifting heavy enough.

Don't drop your weights!

If you have to drop your weights, they're too heavy for you. Strong people do it with control.

Yeah. It’s weird that the people who are doing that don’t look around and see people lifting much more weight without dropping it and change their behavior. At my gym, it’s the young guys doing light deadlifts who seem to love to drop the bar.

The guys at my gym who DL 220kg or more love to put the bar down with a crash even though they’re not dropping it.

I go to a gym that's only for personal trainers and their clients. We had some new ones in there (clients) already today. Let's see how long they last.

Agree with all. I would only add a couple.

Please use your brain when selecting machines. If there are 20 treadmills open, don't choose the one right beside me. This is ridiculous behavior.

Don't Facetime/video call in the locker room. Your friend can wait until you're done to video chat about your weekend plans. I promise.

+1 on leaving fans on! If you’re cold you aren’t working hard enough. It’s hot in here

Regulars:
Please be patient with people learning the machines.
Please don’t act like we are invading your space.

These apply to everyone, but regulars (non New Year's resolutioners) may be more familiar with them. I want everyone to kick ass and get fit and strong, but we all ought to be mindful of these things. Feel free to add your own basic, reasonable etiquette.

DON'TS
- don't wear cologne to the gym
- don't wear perfume to the gym
- don't douse yourself in it, in the locker room after showering
- don't use your phone to have conversations while working out
- don't move someone's stuff while they're setting up for a class, unless it's clearly abandoned
- don't use the gym provided towels like a tissue, and blow your nose in it. Nasty.
- don't go to the gym if you're sick
- don't come in late to classes and expect people to accommodate you
- don't turn off the fans because you're cold
- don't be obnoxious because you want to work out with a friend (ie, have loud conversations next to others, move people's things, crowd spots, etc)

DOs
- arrive early to classes
- wear clean clothes, wear deodorant, and shower daily
- be quick and efficient on machined that are limited in number
- have a good sense of space and your surroundings in all classes
