At this point you need a plan. I suggest working on application for common app only colleges first, than work on supplemental essays in order of college preferences. The last few essays will likely be bad/unfinished. Also, you can help by starting organizing things like student activities and awards (which surprisingly take some time to do).

Did you send in the FAFSA? How did you know what schools to put down?
There are colleges with rolling admissions, OP. It’s not the end of the world.

She can get it done. They do give a grace period for the transcript submissions from the schools.

There are tons of 4-year schools with later deadlines.

Community college is a huge overreaction.

There are schools with February and rolling deadlines. They might not be her dream schools, but there are many to choose from.

She’ll probably get some in by these January deadlines, but instead of berating her, maybe look up a few options with later deadlines that have the programs/locations/size/etc she wants.

DP, but this is terrible advice.
Do the best you can over the next few days and then start investigating schools with deadlines that are further out.

Maybe if you take her to a US Army recruiting station / office, she'll find motivation to apply to college.

Also, collect job applications from fast food restaurants and retail stores in addition to apartment lease applications, then let her choose which apps she fills out.

Calm down OP

IF your child who is actually an adult when they turn 18 has not done thier own, yes their college apps this is on you not on them.

No one has to go to college.

Your kid would fail out it is better to know now. Community college is better they are clearly not mature enough to go to college.

You are ridiculous thinking you should have done those apps. NO>

To which level (most selective, selective, or somewhat selective) is your daughter applying ? The most selective schools usually have the closest app deadlines.

Encourage her to apply to just one school, then search (or ask here) for schools with later app deadlines.

The first application is the most important.

Contact the counselor when school gets back this week. You will need their help to get everything to the schools in time.

Guess her first semester will be spent at the local CC or working. Don’t bail her out. She needs to experience the consequences of procrastination.

I am sorry. Best advice I have is to remain calm. See if you can see what's going on - simply procrastination, fear, or more going on?
Support as best you can. There are a few days left that she can definitely utilize to get some apps out.
These kids have so much pressure on them, it comes out in many ways.
She can make the best of the immediate situation and then perhaps transfer later if the first option doesn't work out.
All best.

SO finally sat my DD down and discovered that she has filled out a grand total of 0 (ZERO) applications all of which are due by 1/4 at the lastest! She kept saying she would get around to it and "how hard could it be". I am livid. She is working furiously on essays but seriously how good can they be at this late date and how on earth are the transcripts and all the supplements going to be sent on time. My hands-off approach backfired big time! Anyone else have kids waiting until the very.last.second???
