Yes it will be bumpy coming in. Very often you will have a go around at landing due to wind shears coming off the plains. It’s normal and ok. If the wing flaps go down and you speed up again, nothing is wrong, they just gotta circle and hang out at 10,000 feet until it’s clear to land.

Yes, just before landing and right after takeoff. Hate it.

Flew from the west and it was pretty bad. I’m not a nervous flyer but my travel companions were rattled.

The worst turbulence instances I’ve had at an airport: Reno (rough take off due to air currants and the mountains) and Phoenix (hot desert air currents). Denver hasn’t been a problem. Try taking a pill if you’re a nervous flyer, it helps!

I’ve noticed some as you cross the mountains near Denver. I dislike flying, it’s not bad turbulence but I notice it.

I have flown into Denver a ton in addition to many other places and Denver is definitely the most turbulent. It is worse in the afternoon.

OP I fly to and from Denver a lot. Never once.

Florida on the other hand a few times.

Denver is the airport I’ve flown to most in the past decade and I have not had issues with turbulence. It was worse when the airport was at the Stapleton location because it was closer to the mountains.

We flew in on Christmas and didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. We fly back to DC tomorrow.

It's the air pockets off the plains coming in from the east. It is very common, I have been flying to and fro for decades. Best consolation is it is usually the last 20 minutes or less on the descent - you just have to tell yourself flight is almost over.

I think we had some but it didn’t bother my baby who I held in my arms.

I’ve also never had an issue and have flown there a ton.

Flying from the east coast, I’ve never experienced significant turbulence flying into Denver. The mountains are west of Denver and I believe that’s where the unsettled air is located.

I’m flying to Denver for the first time this spring and read it is one of the most turbulent areas due to the mountains. Rationally I’m well aware that turbulence isn’t dangerous and even less worrisome if there’s a predictable cause due to mountains. But the reality is I HATE turbulence and feel like I’m going to have a panic attack if it gets super bumpy. I don’t like how it feels and that I’m stuck/not in control.. (I also hate rollercoasters!).

Anyone from Denver or has flown in/out of there regularly and can provide any info/reassurance?
