My 15yo DD on Vyvanse hasn’t had this side effect (only a decreased appetite, after almost a year). But I can also say this isn’t something her doctor has ever asked about, and she’s pretty thorough with med checks.

She asks questions to suss out suicidality or other mood changes, heart issues, appetite, sleep, etc., but nothing about vision. She checks blood pressure and heart rate, but no eye tests.

So if it’s a side effect of the Vyvanse, it’s likely a very rare one, and could equally possibly be due to something else.

Only side afflect here for DS (taking for 5 years) is not hungry all day

DD has been on it for many years, and after a wild ride looking at alternatives, she has had the fewest side effects with Vyvanse. Sleep and food are still the side effects, but no blurred vision, etc.

Definitely let her doctor know.

I would check to make sure she started on the lowest possible dose, and that the pharmacy has actually filed the prescribed dose (look for a pill reference). Check whatever else she might be taking, make sure there is nothing else that could add (afternoon pick-me-up med?) Vyvanse is long acting and the schedule matters.

You may also want to take her BP (at home or at a pharmacy), to make sure it's not a case of high blood pressure. Frankly, for blurry vision, my first stop would be at the pediatrician's office, and let make sure there's nothing else going on.

No such issues with my DC8 taking it for a year plus.

I have two kids who have been on Vyvanse for 5+ years. No side effects other than one had tachycardia when the dose was too high. Went away as soon as the dose was lowered.

DD 20 is hoping to start Vyvanse but so far we can’t get insurance approval. Blurred vision would be concerning. Will you report back once you know if it’s the Vyvanse?

We had no problem finding Adderall extended release at Walgreens in Potomac last week. Maybe try there? DD had taken Concerta previously and there was always a shortage so I was relieved to pick it up within an hour of it being prescribed.

So I'm an adult parent who takes Vyvanse and has been having blurred vision (although not the entire time I've taken it) and am now wondering if this is connected. It is listed as a serious side effect. I think it's worth asking the prescriber/dr about. But strangely this has only been affecting me a few weeks and I've taken vyvanse for years so it may be unconnected in my case.

My 17 yr old DD has been taking Adderall extended release for a couple years for primarily inattentive ADHD. With the shortage of the drug, we could not get a refill until January so her dr. gave a 1-week rx for Vyvanse to see how she did with that as an alternative. She took it for a couple days and said it seemed to affect her similarly. On the third day, she hadn't taken a dose, and said her vision had gone all blurry. Could that be from the Vyvanse? I'll ask the dr, of course, but wondering if anyone else has had this side effect from it?

Anyone have success with a different Adderall alternative?
