Coyuchi has a “relaxed sateen” now that is pretty thick and not as shiny/smooth. I actually liked their old sateen better but if you’re normally a percale person this might be appealing.

OP - That thick luxurious feel you’re looking for is what is found with high thread count sheets, which are cotton sateen. Cotton percale sheets, as others have suggested, will become very soft after washing, but they will not be thick. Percale sheets are lower thread count, usually not more than 300 max. My guess is that your current Kate Spade sheets are a low quality cotton percale since you describe them as scratchy. Many people find even high quality percale to be scratchy. After cotton sateen and cotton percale, you have microfiber, which is basically just polyester. It will have a heavier feel than cotton percale, but since polyester doesn’t breathe, you’ll probably end up sweating through the night unless you sleep cold. Beyond cotton sateen and microfiber, if you’re looking for a luxurious, heavy feeling you could probably try satin or actual silk, but I’ll be honest, I have zero experience with those.

Is there a reason you don’t want cotton sateen? Cotton sateen is most likely what is going to fit your criteria.

If you’re dead set against sateen, I would recommend percale sheets from The Company Store. They’re a nice crisp sheet. But again, not what I would describe as heavy or luxurious.

OP if you don’t want sateen, you are left with percale. The wirecutter has reviews of both I think.

You can find cotton sheets at many price points (even Target). I don’t care for microfiber.

Yes, we cannot be washing fleece and fleece blankets all the time. Now our rainwater contains microplastics. There is evidence that plastics are related to obesity, infertility and other disorders.

This but be sure to get Supima cotton. Recently tried Brooklinen percale. Very nice but not heavy enough IMO. Quince pretty good but limited colors. Be sure to get percale. Thread count irrelevant.

The key is also to not over dry. Take out just as they finishe and not let crinkle.

The Company store 100% cotton ones. They do need a couple hot water washes to get softer. I also get Bloomindgales sheets during their annual bedlinen sale. Ralph lauren is good usually.

I recently got a new duvet insert that is so fluffy and amazing - that plus my four seasons mattress gave me feeling like I am sleeping in a fancy hotel minus the sheets - my current set is from tj max and super scratchy (I stupidly assumed Kate spade would be good). Where can I get thick, luxurious sheets - not sateen? And a duvet cover to match? I’m struggling with figuring out what to search to find what I’m looking for without being able to touch them in person… I assume it’s more than just a high thread count?
