Confederate flags start showing up on residential flag poles in Fauquier County, in between Middleburg and Warrenton in my experience.

From my experience, anywhere that isn’t suburbanized or that has a large transplant population feels pretty ‘southern’ in Virginia. Sometimes I feel as if places in Western Loudoun feel much more southern that Fredericksburg even though it’s geographically more northern due to its untouched character. But whenever I drive out to western prince William around Haymarket and Gainesville it feels very southern, I often hear southern accents among the elderly in restaurants and supermarkets. From your experience, where does Virginia begin to feel like the South?
