I have a lift for my KitchenAid mixer and I love it. Don’t use it that often but it’s really convenient. The cord is long enough to plug into an outlet inside the cabinet. It just stays plugged in.

Can anybody post a picture of what a kitchen lift looks like?

Having a lot of cabinets and wanting clear counters seems like the right opportunity for this. Why not? They’re too heavy to lift up all the time.

I’m OP- I have a lot of cabinet space, I don’t like things out on the countertop- in my current kitchen The mixer, toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker (for guests, we don’t drink coffee) are all in cabinets under the kitchen island.

New kitchen will have no upper cabinets- they don’t work with the window size and placement. I guess if I hate it, I will just remove it.

I appreciate the feedback. Thank you.

I have three lifts in a row in my island.

Toaster
KitchenAid Mixer
Cuisinart Food Processor

When I cook, I really cook and I love having these ready to use. (They stay plugged in, in the cabinet).

I didn’t get one when I redid my kitchen and wish I would have. I think I would use it more. Even though I don’t have one (like the pp), I think they are a good idea and wish I had configured around it. Fwiw.

Classic DCUM comment.

“I’ve never used this & I, in fact, didn’t even know it existed, but it’s not what I do, so it must be absolutely ridiculous.”

I’ve had this before and it worked great. Like pp, we installed a plug inside the cabinet. The only question is whether you have the cabinet space to spare.

Are you limited for counter space?

LOVE my lift. Worth taking up a whole cabinet, and I don't even have a big kitchen. Have had it for about 8 years with no issues. I have a rather large KitchenAid that does not fit under my cabinets (I have ridiculously low ceilings and wanted crown and under cabinet molding) so this was my solution. I do shift the mixer backwards once it is up to stabilize the shelf a bit, shifting it forward to put it back in the cabinet so it fits (height wise) on the way down. I can store some baking things under the shelf in the cabinet. We do have a dedicated plug in the cabinet, which is in our island next to our microwave drawer which also has it's own electrical supply.
HTH!

Building a new kitchen and trying to decide if this is a good idea. Currently I store it in a base cabinet and lift it up on to the counter whenever I want to use it. But think that might get to be a problem at some point because it is so heavy. I don’t use the mixer daily, or even weekly. Some months more than others, and some maybe not even at all.

If you have one of these lifts, is it awkward to use the mixer on it? Does the cord for the mixer reach far enough to reach your outlet or do you have an outlet in that cabinet?
When it is out and you are using it, is it in the way of your kitchen work flow because it sticks out from the cabinet?

Thanks in advance for your advice/experience.
