We have a VW ID4. We easily drove through 4-5 feet of snow last month in Buffalo while visiting family.

OP here--thanks for all the suggestions so far!

I don't have a firm budget, but under $70k would be great. That said, I am the type to buy a car and drive it for 10+ years, so willing to pay more for something that will last and be reliable.

A hybrid is likely to be your best option at this point given range limitations in cold weather of an EV. Budget would be helpful.

This. When I was a ski instructor I had a 1992 RWD Volvo. I had legit winter tires and the thing was great.

I would agree.

We sold our Teslas for many reasons this was just one.

Worst cars we ever bought. Just today the self driving killed some one and 8 car pile up. Yeah they suck.

I didn’t think that Toyota Highlander AWD was that good in snow. Its handling it too soft and I felt unsteady driving it in snow

Hi DCUM,

Hoping you can all help me scout out a new vehicle. Prefer an EV (or hybrid if none fit the bill), and must be AWD and good in snow.

Needs to fit 2 kids + dog + luggage + ski rack, but I'm hoping for something that isn't enormous so it will still fit in the garage at work (mostly compact parking spots).

I'm not picky about brand, but do want something solid and reliable (so I'm not stranded with two kids and a dog in the snow )
