I remember that. Same scenario, but much younger kid.

Not weird for the nanny to say that. I also have somewhat complicated boundaries about who watches my kids that I would not want to get into with my employer.

Weird that you're offended, honestly. The nanny is a professional caregiver. You are (I assume) not. Would you take her up on it if she offered to do your job?

She probably doesn't think that you're that great of a babysitter

First time parent? How old is the kid? I do think it's odd, but to each his own.

We have a new PT nanny who is great and works for our very weird schedule. She lives less than a mile away and her DD is the same age as my DD (by two weeks.) We are very happy with our arrangement and really enjoy her flexibility and think it’s great my DD (who will forever be an only child) has a playmate and substitute sibling to help her with social skills etc.

What’s weird to me, is nanny came and helped us out last minute with DD in tow and I offered to babysit her DD so she and her DH could do a date night (they have no local family). Nanny said, “oh, that’s a sweet offer but we don’t let anyone watch DD.”

I was a bit taken aback. We’ve only known her for a month or two, but… she watches my kid? Something really odd about a nanny who doesn’t let people watch her kid. Makes me think of when actors say they don’t watch tv. Like? It’s your industry? I am just super weirded out and slightly offended.
