Yep same old story. Nothing new here other than the OP trying to get more mileage out of an old story.
A new report released yesterday with details about MCPS administrators misusing credit cards is the same old story. It's why teachers are on DonorsChoose begging for money for classroom supplies.
Maybe teachers would like to know that MCPS administrators can buy kayak covers with MCPS credit cards and don't have to go to DonorsChoose?
This was public months ago. There's nothing new here.
How is an Investigation that was just made public yesterday also public months ago? Maybe wake up and read for once? Collecting a MCPS check for posting drivel?
Another NP here. OP - did you even actually read the story that you posted? It's pretty clear that MCPS found the problem based on an internal audit, reported it to the police, and then also hired an external auditor for more detailed investigation.
Here's a WTOP article from Nov 2021 about MCPS notifying the police after their internal audit noticed the problem.
https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2021/11/financial-improprieties-probed-in-montgomery-co-schools-transportation-dept/
Follow up article from Oct 2022: https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2022/10/audit-finds-off-the-books-account-used-by-vendors-to-pay-montgomery-co-schools-staff/
"After reporting concerns to Montgomery County police, MCPS hired an accounting firm in December 2021 to carry out an independent forensic investigation of the account."
In addition to MCPS's independent audit, the police referral triggered audits by Maryland Office of Legislative Audits and by Montgomery County Office of Inspector General. OP's article is just a link to the final report from MC OIG.
Here's the last DCUM thread from Oct. 2022 https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1086300.page on this topic.
So yes, this is old news.

It was in the paper months ago back when it happened. Nothing new..
That's impossible. The Investigative Report was just released yesterday. How much are you paid to keep posting this over and over? Got some MCPS Gift Cards in your wallet?
NP. You understand that investigations are about things that happened in the past right? Did you know about January 6th before the House committee? Same thing.
I didn't need to watch the hearings to be honest. It was clear they tried to overthrow the gov back when it happened. The rest was just grandstanding. If it were up to me they'd be in jail by now.
