I think it's ok to say " We are down mechanics and parts are on delay " rather than refusing to return calls and texts, saying the car will be finished by x , then no call, car isn't done, saying that there is now another part, piece, tube, check that needs doing, waiting for this, that. Weeks on end.

This is making me wonder if I should purchase a new car ( will need to soon) or lease a new car. And what kind of car, and what brand.

So fine, we get that, but why lie about it and deflect? Just say they have staff issues or can't get the part. I wasn't aware they needed to get OEM parts (?) and so I guess we will go to regular nonaffiliated shop. But with the warranty, we kind of have to go there for some things.

That is what I have no idea about, and probably not, actually. I am wondering if there's a shortage of mechanics or even a supply chain issue and they can't be frank about it. Just wondering if this is common in the last year or so, anywhere.

Have had same kind of car, Hyundai, for 20 years, several cars over this time, no real problems, great warranty, very impressed. Managed maintenance with the closest dealership for most of the time, excellent service, good repair.

In the last year and a half though, we are bringing car in for service, and all any car needs is regular upkeep, oil changes, basic replacement parts, only occasional larger problems that require parts. However, lately in the past 2 years, they they start the service then we fall into this black hole of delay delay delay, no communication, crazy stories about " something else we have to check on, the part isn't right, etc. " Literally weeks go by, car not ready, no one picks up the phone. No one returns calls. Happened twice. The last time, we got a call apologizing, because we actually went up there to demand the car back, and they were blaming it on someone there, and frankly it didn't make sense, as he was barely involved on the ticket. Vague and yes, all made up.

So here we are again, basic repair, at a DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, different people, SAME thing is happening...stall tactics, crap about some part, then the part came in, but blah blah blah, no return of car, no one answers phone or text. Actually the same scenario as before. 3 weeks already.

Trouble with mechanic shortage? Part back up? What's going on? What don't we get here?
