You neighbor obviously has better qualifications than your daughter.

There’s nothing you can do other than encourage her to continue in treatment. It’s not likely to go well (though it could!) but as you said it’s up to her.

Did she complete undergrad? Does she have the required prerequisite courses for medical school? Next step, the MCAT, then the application. It’s an intense process just getting accepted. As a parent, I say take it one step at a time.

She should discuss it with her therapist.

You can’t stop her.

She may still be trying to figure if she is disabled or recovered. That could be hard to know in advance. I understand your concerns, but she must find the way forward.

So, is she taking a gap year? Doesn't sound like she is in med school yet?

She needs to be vigilant, but if she’s recovering she’ll be ok. She needs to do something with her life. Every career is stressful. Might as well do something you are interested in. Maybe she can be a psychiatrist or specialist in eating issues.

everything can be difficult, when someones doing what they want and are happy its worth it. otherwise you can argue that nothings hard worth doing. then who's gonna do it?

My daughter who went away to Sheppard Pratt for her ED has been back for a while now, (she's 24) and she almost died from the ED. She wants to go back to school to get her medical degree but I'm worried the stress will make her relapse.
She's still in therapy but has recovered. She's always wanted to be a physician. It's the only thing she wants to do she says.

It's up to her of course, but is there anything I need to know to make this less difficult for her ?

What do you think ?
